3/10/2012 The Matrix of Reality Perhaps inspired by the film 'The Matrix', perhaps inspired by the 'observer effect' in quantum mechanics or the book "The Diary of a Reluctant Messiah" by Richard Bach... whichever, what ever...
There was a familiarity to this strangeness as if I had been here before but not in this lifetime. "Deja vue?" I hear you ask. No, not that feeling. To me that is the sense that you are lucid dreaming where the whole event is happening with a clear split between being an observer of, yet simultaneously an actor in the scene. Those events are short and spark a very different reaction. This was happening slowly, surely, towards a nemesis that seemed preordained. I did not know how or why I ended up here. Yes, here of all places. Had I literally dreamt it up and created all that surrounded me? Anything is possible if one believes. I understood this law inside out but fear had prevented me from activating the phenomenon. An innate ability which I knew existed within the confines of my mortal existence. I could shape time and so called reality at will with just a thought - this must be it then! I blinked and had another thought and so it was. Changed, everything, even the colour of the sky. Ah, so easy! All at my command, and no drugs required!

Yep! I reckon that just about says it all for quite a few of us on the 'road'.

Thank you for this insight Kim. There is a great deal of research on the effects of a lack of oxygen to various parts of the brain due to strokes as I am sure you are aware. It is also now possible to 'shut off' areas of the brain by a method known as Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS). This has no known side effects (as yet) and enables the intereactions between different cortexes and neuronal pathways to be studied with interesting outcomes emerging. Of course a more generally used way of stimulating hallucinogenic effects is through the use of drugs both medicinally (e.g. morphine) as well as recreational drugs. We are only at the very beginning of creating an understanding of consciousness and what it 'really' means, let alone what 'reality' actually is.
